no mojo?

So I'm still looking for it - my Christmas Mojo..

Has anyone else found theres yet? I got a little taster of it at the weekend.. We had a lovely day shopping and seeing friends in London - even though the cost of Christmas is a hard one to swallow! I do like the gift buying and it was so nice to walk round real beautiful shops and drink coffee, instead of just getting lost and confused on the internet! On Sunday we finally got our tree and decorated it YAY! It's not the best shaped tree we've ever got but as it was pissing it down with rain whilst we picked it suddenly we were both a little less fussy! Christmas mojo did increase tenfold when we went and sang Carols by candle light on Sunday night. The church was so magical and we got to sing loads and all the good ones - I love a good sing a long and don't hold back which I think is a little embarrassing for the boy! Hey ho.. should have worn uggs though as it was SO cold - they did serve us amazing mulled wine and a warm mince pie afterwards though which was a big bonus.. I don't think either have ever tasted better - must of been the setting that made then all the more delicious.

As always though walking into the office and manically ticking things off my list have taken all the fun away again - But I'm sure it will swiftly come back as soon as the weekend hit! Can't believe the big day and a well needed break is soon here.. eeeeee

photo from my instagram..

stepped out of the house this morning to a winter wonderland.. arrived at work and as always the farm was even more magical. Dave and I went for a little wonder and I snapped a few details and he skipped about trying to avoid too much of the mud and frost. Our toes are still dethawing..

Well - it is frickin freezing.. Autum has now been blown away and replaced by white frost and a dusting of snow.. well not today - we have gales, rain and this horrid darkness that makes you wish you hadn't bothered getting out of bed! but at least there's been touches of pretty winter and not just nastiness - hey ho..

So another weeks gone and I still haven't found the time to write a Paris post.. Sorry.. I'm manically trying to get everything done and dusted before the dreaded C bomb and in the evenings I'm being ridiculously lazy - snuggling under blankets and drinking lots of tea.. and just relaxing. Will get my blogging back on track asap - promise!

Can't believe it's Friday and nearly the weekend - I have a 3 hour drive to watch a very special friend try on some, hopefully, pretty fabulous white dresses. We also have a Christening and a christmas tree to buy - I'm going in a week earlier than I normally do.. eeeee excited! Who else is getting they're tree this weekend?

i'm back!

From paris - and we had the best time!

Lot's of (iPhone) photos to go through and share.. I've been posting a few to Instagram but I'll be adding them on here and what we got up too.. As always coming back is manic and didn't help that we HAD to catch up with the last F1 race when we got home (rolls eye at result).. which resulted in a late, late night.. eyes being held open with match sticks today and legs still punishing me from all the pavement pounding! Lack of Dave walking a general business, bathroom building, sickness + stupid early evenings paying a price!

Early night tonight but first food shopping - we're off to check out our brand new massive Sainsbury's which open whilst we were away... such excitement for us country folk.. (rolls eye at myself)..

be back soon x

life recently

I've just had a tummy sinking moment - it's nearly frickin December....

am not going to panic.. just going to start making some serious lists as to what I need to do, finish, get, wrap and decorate! and to top it all off it means 2012 is nearly over - we soon will be in 2013.. I'll be turning 30 and life will continue to wiz by..

in the here and now life's been good. we've had some beautiful days.. Dave's a million times better and after some serious after work hours on the bathroom it is almost finished.. turns out the boy is the slowest tiler even though he thinks tiling's just slow.. I wasn't allowed to tile my job was to pass the tiles and spacers to him - which took around 3 nights in total and was a little bit dull. The grouting I had a little bit more of a role in and we decided to just get it done so stayed up till 4 in the morning - which I really enjoyed and it was the best feeling in the world knowing that the decorating was D O N E.

I'm not going to lie I hated doing it - I'm pleased we've saved money and done it ourselves - and also the sense of achievement is massive.. especially for the boy as he's done it all himself - plumbing, building, tiling and grouting - but it's been tough doing it all not having a bathroom and working really hard every evening trying to do it when business is busy busy.. but as always once it's finished none of that matters any more.. Oli's just doing the finishing touches - he has to fit the shower and make the bath panels but we now have a working bath, loo and sink - AMAZBALLS.

Am off to Paris this weekend for a well needed break - I can't wait! First holiday for 2012 and some much needed husband and wife time... right now must run and start ticking things off my list!

make it: Late night Apple Sponge

We're not pudding people.. we eat dinner then might enjoy a piece of chocolate with tea before bed.. Last night however we needed PUD!

This time of year is amazing.. We inherited with our house a cooking apple tree that produces the best fruit each year.. therefor my apple based puddings are seriously up to scratch.. we love crumple, strudel and pie - but the boys favourite is apple sponge..

So last night I made this for us: Late night Apple Sponge for 2

2 x Apples peeled, cored + cubed
a little butter
splash of water (roughly 2 x tablespoons)
1 x flat tablespoon of caster sugar
1/2 tea spoon of cinnamon
a little lemon juice
and a star anise.. if you like it!

melt butter then mix all together and cook over a medium heat for 10-15 mins till most of the cubes are broken up. Add a little extra water if looking too dry.

All in one Sponge - for 2..
1 x egg - weigh this and it will give you the weight for the rest of the ingredients - same if you were using 2/3 eggs.. mine came in at 58g
58g caster sugar
58g flour (I used plain with a little baking powder 1/2 teaspoon)
58g butter
lemon zest

wiz till pale and fully mixed.

I then just poured it onto the apples rustic style - I used the milk pan I cooked the apples in - I normally decant into a pretty cook dish if serving to friends!

Cook 180 for 15/20 mins until cake is slightly golden and the mix comes out clean if you stick a knife in sponge..

serve with ice cream, custard or cream.

on a Bathroom update: So close now!!! We've worked SO hard this week - Tiles are laid and floor is down.. Grouting tonight and then finishing touches over the weekend - the boy has a plan to make the bath panels so I'm not sure when these will get done.. but hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll be able to shower again YAY!

Season one..

It's almost over - I can't believe it! I've nearly finished my first season as a wedding photographer. I shot my second to last wedding last Friday and now have my weekends back again. I may of celebrated a bit to hard on Saturday night at a very fun bonfire party.. but a sunday on the sofa catching up with TV, enjoying Formula one and a roast chick-nic was exactly what I needed and therefor having a headache didn't hinder anything. Also how good was the end of Downton.. why can it not go on and on and on? Loving lady Ediths style this season!

So as I mentioned in my last post things got very stressful last week as poor Dave suddenly couldn't walk and was screaming out in pain if we touched him or he moved. After a visit to the vet we were told that he's done some damage to his back disc and has to have 6 weeks of bed rest.. It luckily hand't gone to the point of an operation but that is still a risk. After a couple of strong pain killers he is now fine - annoyingly too well as stopping him running, jumping and leaping is now our main concern.. sometimes I wish he'd understand us but as he doesn't we're having to be very vigilant and may have to resort to looking him up so he can't move.. But at least he;s back to his old self.. was horrid seeing him in so much pain.

So I've added a bit of what I've been up to this summer on my blog - these weddings will be featured soon and I can't wait to show you! Through the haziness of busyness I am starting to feel proud of myself and my work.. even though I still have so much more to learn! Also trying to keep my facebook page busy - and almost at 100 followers! eeeee

happy Movember!

Who has some hairy boys living with them..? Oli was thinking about it but as he sports facial hair most of the time and he wasn't sure how he'd raise money he decided against it.

I did spy theses on Facebook though from my friends AMAZING website Two Red Trees has these incredibly cute earrings by MissJewellery selling so us girls can get involved.. To support Movember Two Red Trees is giving £1 to charity for every pair of these wonderful moustache earrings sold. Annoyingly I don't wear earrings but I know for a lot of you they'll be right up your street.

Am busy designing new season products for Gone Crabbing so must run - but I'll be back with an update soon.. There's been dramas involving Dave but more on that later..

More roses - I am obsessed.

Life is still busy - I'm running 6 weeks behind and I'm stressed. Bathroom's not finished and have so much to do that I don't know where to start. Thankfully have a good boy beside me who is helping me manage - well trying too. Today there's beautiful blue sky and a light keeping me focused and positive - and bigger nastier things happening to keep me thankful and grounded.

My thoughts are with anyone in danger. keep safe.

Been editing a wedding this week and this image made me smile.. This year I seem to have missed Dahlias - there were a few in my mums garden but not enough for my normal september bouquets..

This mans garden though had a stirling crop - It made me think of Oli's Grandad.. We must get to his alpoment next year.. he is the 2012 Dahlia grower of the year and I'd love to see all his work lined up in their uniformed glory. They also make me think of us and our wedding. The vicar said in his sermon that they will always represent our wedding - and he was right they really do.

Right back to work!

On the greyest, misty day for a long time the colours of Autumn were fighting through. Dave and I found ourselves being drawn into the garden and lost in the colours. Winter is coming.

iPhone photos edited with feet up on my mum table drinking tea (Earl Grey) and using VSCO cam.

SO we have been struck down with a big bad bug.. first time both of us have ever been sick and off work and a serious pain as I'm now even more behind than I was before! I did however find a little time to finally blog a wedding.. I had so much trouble picking which images too use I thought I'd add a few I didn't use here and loads more on my blog over here.. I hope you like them - it was such a magical wedding. How cute are they practising their first dance..

Got a wedding tomorrow which I am so excited about - so will be tucking myself up early for bed - as I've been sick since monday I must be on the mend now! Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

I LOVE Toast - always have. I still type in toastbypost when I search for them. I still get rediciously excited when I see a new catalogue arrive and I still love looking through it with a cuppa tea and my mum by my side.. How beautiful are their catalogues - they've always have really cared about them and the photography within them. I can't believe they're about to be 15! This season the womans has been shot by the amazing Boo George and Nick Seaton and I love this collection.

As always this time of year hits and suddenly I feel I have nothing to wear. The boy hates this statement as my wardrobe is bulging with treasured clothes -  which is true.. but with a new season comes this wish to update and feel fresh. I'm not someone who's a big spender and I'd rather spend more on something I get a lot of use out of and is well made. As much as the boy disagrees some casual staples are defiantly missing. My daily knitwear is a little tired (and small due to someone doing the washing!) and needs updating. I also have a big thing for cords and shirts this Autumn. I've tried all the below on and am loving and wanting them all.. It's SO hard picking as it all adds up!

I just don't know which to pick! Am heading to Bath this weekend so I'll have another try on session - I'll let you know how I get on!

life recently

Well it's official - you are all amazing and made me feel so much better. The comments from this post meant so much to me. thank you!

This week has been a better one. ticking things off the list slowly, trying to get better at managing my work load between the two companies. Lists and communication is key.. would help if we weren't so busy doing the bathroom in the evening but as it's all for the greater good and I really haven't had to do that much can't complain. so updates:

Coffee morning// went really well - raised over £600 which is pretty good going. My efforts were poor though as I has a baking disaster.. Mum made enough for everyone so that was a relief! I took no photos as was busy with coffee making but there were some delicious treats.

Bathroom// going well - the boy has been building it with his bare hands every evening for the past two weeks. The beautiful tiles have gone and the bath is plumbed in and new taps working. Just been trying to do the cosmetics this week - picking flooring, tiles, prepping walls and painting. Bit fed up with cleaning myself in a building site but am enjoying baths in the morning - something I'd never thought I'd say!

Mixed with work and building bathrooms - we had an amazing weekend last weekend. Got to see and hang with very special friends. My two uni girls, one who now lives in New York and one in Paris and the boys best boy. The boy and I got asked to be very special people at a very exciting wedding and after 10 years of friendship I love how easy it is to all hang out together. Something we haven't done since our wedding. Also went wedding dress shopping which was so much fun and reviewed the dresses with cake and tea!

So life is pretty dam good! Hope your's is too x

Just got lost on the internet - only for a few minutes if you're reading this any clients or my boy! but saw this and gave a big sigh.. I can't wait till I have the space to give large dinner parties.. table names, flower decorations, 8 or 10 people comfortably sat around the table laughing, eating, drinking and relaxing. one more sigh.. and a lot more dreaming!

Found this image here - from here and about the amazing sunday suppers - one of the nicest place to visit and get inspired - amazing food and amazing photography!

social failings..

I met the loveliest couple at the wedding I was working on this weekend and we were talking about the pressure of keeping up with work and social media - and without question I am failing.

Apparently I should be tweeting 5 times and day, doing a Facebook post and a blog post once a day.. whoops! Currently I am managing one very uninspiring blog post a week and tweeting and facebooking very rarely.. I even stopped doing so many instagram images.. I just don't know how people do it!

Maybe I just don't know what to blog about on here anymore since I've started my photography..? What do people like about my blog? Recipes, style, dave, photography, the farm, my family or just me and my life..? blur..

For now here are some photos of me for one of our clients Asha. She needed some images taken and I ended up modelling for it myself as there wasn't time to find anyone else. The boy and I caught the last light one evening and I've discovered that I should wear hats more often! Feel a bit weird putting myself on here but hey ho..
